Got some catching up to do..
Jim Joyce robbed the Tigers, Tiger fans, and the city of Detroit. I'm over it, he was truly trying to do his job to the best of his ability. If he really thought that it was safe than by all means make your call Mr. Joyce. The perfect game would have been mildly bittersweet if the final out was a blown call the other way.
But it wasn't.
It hurt real bad. The Tigers have never had a perfect game and might not for another hundred years. My least favorite sports radio personality EVER, Mike Valenti, downplayed and downplayed and downplayed the importance of that game in the big scheme of things. Yeah, it was an early June game. Yeah, it was against maybe the worst team in the A.L.. But cuuuuuhhhhmon, it would have been the 21st EVER EVER EVER. Think about how many god damn baseball games have been played in the last 100 years..i seriously just tried to do the math and it hurt my head and i don't think the number I have is right anyway..but it's a lotta damn games.
We needed that game, we all did. Cause for celebration has been fewer and farther in between in this state. Good has come out of the game however. The team, the manager and the player have all shown a great deal of class and we've received national recognition for the sportsmanship we displayed. Think if that happened in philly to Doc Halliday? Philly fans would riot. Shit, they booed Kobe when he won the All-Star game MVP in Philly, his hometown.
